Top 10 Kendrick Lamar Songs

Already anointed the future of hip hop by Dr. Dre, Snoop, and The Game this talented Compton native is taking the rap scene by storm. Kendrick has the fast flowing, story telling, wordplay style of Andre 3000, an insanely fast flow that rivals Busta Rhymes, and the imagery/higher thinking of Kid Cudi. With with major label debut good kid, m.A.A.d city coming out October 22nd expect him to hear a lot more of this prodigy. Here are his 10 best.

(Note: I decided to break it up with songs 10-6 being songs he has an appearance or one verse and songs 5-1 are solely his)

10. Meek Mill ft Kendrick Lamar - A1 Everything

Two of the best up and comers on this track with completely different styles. Kendrick comes away with it on this verse and the way he incorporates the bullet sounds takes some serious talent

9. J Cole ft Kendrick Lamar - Temptation
It's too bad they never came out with a more quality version for this song.  J. Cole has said in interviews that once he got back the tape when Kendrick added his verse to it he wanted to go back and change up his verse because Kendricks was so good.

8. Kendrick Lamar & Gunplay - Cartoons and Cereal

With great wordplay Kendrick and Gunplay illustrate how our society use cereal (sugar) cartoons (cheap entertainment) to entertain kids.

7. DJ Khaled - They Ready (Ft. J. Cole, Big KRIT & Kendrick Lamar)

Kendrick murders the end of this song with his fast rhyme style and wordplay.

6. Kendrick Lamar - Buried Alive (Drake - Take Care)

Kendrick opens Drake's Take Care album with a rap featuring everything from rap careers, girls, aliens, to Drake himself.

5. Look Out For Detox/ Rigamortis

A tie at five at five featuring ridiculously incredible lyrical ability

4. Swimming Pools

Great message to this song of why can't our generation go out just to have a fun time why do we have to get "fucked up". The chorus of "Why you babysitting only 2 or 3 shots?" is really our sub conscience pushing ourselves to get fucked up in order to meet girls and have a good. time.

3. A.D.H.D
This song does a great job portraying what type of society we have turned into with our shrinking attention spans. The second verse tells the story of Kendrick getting a one night stand dealing with a typical person from our society with a short attention span. (Spoiler****Being part of the "crack baby" generation she chooses the Kush over him at the end)

2. Keisha's Song (Her Pain)

Amazing story telling ability in this song about a girl abused her whole life who turned into a prostitute. It is a song he wrote for his little sister to never become a prostitute and goes to great lengths of detailing why girls become ones.

1. HiiPower

Everything about this song from the beat, to the catchiness, to the powerful meaning of the song is a work of art  To quote Rap Genius: "Hiii Power is a way of thinking with higher expectations, and achieving richness in body and mind. Essentially a quest for knowledge and wisdom of the body, mind and spirit."

Let's keep this post updated with a Kendrick Hall of Fame section. Along with the songs in the top 10 (which will stay there post good kid m.a.a.d. city release) this is the Kendrick Lamar Hall of Fame so keep the posts coming with ones to add.
